PROJECTS
If you have any ideas, please share them with us.
If you believe you can be a part of any of these
projects, visit the "Contact" section
and tell us about you!
Especially are encouraged people in retirement age,
with previous experience as experts in the communications
area, road regulations, finances, municipal administration,
architecture and urbanization, citizen and administrative
law. Bulgarians of ethnic origin, students and everyone
else who would like to help us overcome the obstacles
that separate us and put us against each other.

PROJECT GROUP "SMALL THINGS THAT RUIN
OR DAYS"
PROJECT "Rear bumpers on cars are a
perfect spot for placing life-saving advices"
This project is developed by our Foundation and
is to be fulfilled along with DMV. Aims to change
some of the life-endangering impulses in the motor
vehicle operators on the territory of Bulgaria
-There is no respect of the rule that the driver
behind looks after the driver in front
-Distance between vehicles is way too small; tailgating
is a very common event
-Drivers do not stop at pedestrian crossings
-Drivers move with high speeds in towns
-At a large scale, drivers cannot visually cover
the road scene in front of them and cannot timely
react in case of fast-pace situations, and respectively
- to cooperate ease of movement for the traffic
-There is no tolerance whatsoever towards the other
drivers on the road and no aid in the more complicated
nowadays traffic
With very short and affecting texts printed on bumper
decals, we seek affecting the culture of those who
operate motor vehicles. The inspection stations
will help spread these decals. We anticipate the
effect of this project to appear in less than a
year from it's start!
PROJECT "The Citizens suggest"
This project is detailed from our Foundation along
with the citizens of particular cities and will
be realized along with DMV. Aims to speed up the
process of regulating road crossings with higher
probability of accidents. Markings, signs and stop
lights will be used to accomplish this task.
In a campaign held by our Foundation, citizens visualize
'killer' crossings and/or junctions. A contact group
consisting of experts of our Foundation and DMV,
the Municipality and other participating organizations
seeks effective means of regulating these junctions.
PROJECT "Pedestrians are responsible
also"
The project is developed and is to be implemented
by our Foundation, DMV and the companies who own
the public transport altogether. Aims to educate
pedestrians for their responsibilities as such.
Messages will be placed onto advertising spots on
buses and will remind the citizens that roads are
to be crossed only at the designated areas. It is
expected that those means of communication will
affect also the drivers so both parties will optimize
the process of coordination. As a result we expect
the pedestrians to start memorizing the locations
of the pedestrian crossings and look for those,
which would respectively will relief the pressure
on drivers usually expecting people to cross the
road at any time or place.
Meanwhile, a contact group containing experts from
our Foundation and representatives from DMV will
develop a detailed plan for updating the pedestrian
crossing network for each particular city, by following-up
with local people who already have the habit of
crossing some roads at some exact place.
Some of these "unofficial" road crossings
will be even officially marked as such in case they
are acceptable according strict requirements. Other
spots, where crossing the road bears risk for the
pedestrians, will be designated with signs forbidding
crossing. These signs will also have information
for the type and amount /eventually/ of the respective
sanction.
As the project is being implemented DMV will provide
attendants that will secure it and will aply any
sanctions.
For manufacturing the needed signs our Foundation
will seek contacts with contracting companies that
would be willing to sponsor the project.
PROJECT "Show your permit"
Developed by our Foundation and will be executed
along with the Municipal Police Department from
the particular city or town. Aims to be discontinued
the practice of occupying boardwalks and streets
from nearby cafes, chairs and/or tables, or parked
vehicles.
Again a contact group will check the documents that
allow such ventures to settle tables for example
onto the boardwalks, or parking spots that bear
a "Reserved" sign.
PROJECT "Citizens against the Tow Truck"
This project will be done from a contact group formed
of our experts, Municipal Police and the Architectural
and Public Development department at the particular
Municipality.
The Experts will get acquainted with the amounts
for parking spots with respect to the population
of the particular municipality, and the percentage
of satisfying that criteria. In case there are no
accommodations to satisfy the criteria, our Foundation
shall prepare a report along with a recommendation
for the Municipality for discontinuing the activity
of the tow trucks and restoring it after the criteria
for parking spots is being fulfilled.
Meanwhile the contact group will start working on
solutions for developing the needed amount of parking
spots in the municipality and will begin actions
to apply the solutions.
The length of this project is expected to be no
less than two years. In the period for fulfilling
the criteria for parking spots will be also revised
the ways of sanctioning in cases of illegal parking
and will be accepted such measures that will not
torment the citizens.
PROJECT "Apply the law"
This project will be done by a contact group of
our experts and ones from the Municipality, along
with representatives of the local authority.
The concept of this project is very simple. Generally
acknowledged is the opinion that the Law Enforcement
in Bulgaria is not sophisticated and cannot guarantee
the public order and peace. This is not correct.
Truth being is that the methods applied from the
Bulgarian citizens to solve their problems are lacking
an approach of the following type: register the
problem, go online, search for the law that formulates
this problem and proposes how to solve it, and apply
my rights personally or seek authorized help to
apply the law.
This is definitely not the way most Bulgarian citizens
do it.
The same anticipation or the lack of habit doing
it is seen in the activities of the state agencies.
For example, according Point 11. (1) of the Regulation
for the Public order of the Varna Municipality,
the Chairmen of the Regulating Councils of Storey
owners are to provide regular cleaning of the stairs
and the landings between them, as well as maintaining
an aesthetic environment for living in the apartment
building and the surrounding areas. For violating
such Point from the Regulation fees varying between
20 and 200 leva are applied.
We all know how the apartment buildings look in
Bulgaria. Laws exist, but are not applied.
The Contact Group working on this project will seek
ways of applying the existing laws and norms in
order to solve the problems with the shared stairs
in apartment buildings, and the surrounding areas
also.

PROJECT GROUP "LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT
AND CONTROL OVER THE ELECTED FROM THE PEOPLE"
PROJECT "Citizens are
watching"
Will be done by volunteers - observing
the work of the Municipal Councils at all places.
Each of the observing will have to pass through
a month of education in our Foundation. During
the education will be discussed the main problems
for the particular municipality, the law base
for solving them and the operational solutions
from the local self-government that have been
applied up until the moment. At the end of the
educational period the one applying for an observer
will have to pass a test and if successful will
start his duties.
The applying for observers volunteers will be
mostly from the area of the retired experts. They
will be invited to take a part of the program
by means of a competition and will be selected
based on their professional experience as experts
in their active career.
After beginning their work as observers they will
be sources of up-to-date information for municipal
projects, forming positions in the Municipal Councils
regarding key questions for the particular area;
will also trace suggestions for our Foundation
and will realize the connection between us and
the Municipal leadership.
PROJECTS "Citizens respond"
This project is entirely based on the electronic
means of communication. It aims to activate the
Bulgarian community in establishing a reverse
connection between the community itself and the
elected by the community in the respective government
departments - legislative, law enforcement, and
local self - government.
In the moments when clear conflicts arouse between
the authorities and the society, when in the public
domain is established a feeling for a clear contradiction
in the opinions of the society opposed to the
opinions of the authorities regarding key problems
like the "Trakia" highway, or rebuilding
the resort buildings without providing the necessary
infrastructure, or the global problem with the
garbage disposal in Sofia, our Foundation will
provoke the Bulgarian citizens to send their opinions
directly to the people's representatives, the
ones they chose, and will request from them to
take their opinions into consideration.
The activity of the "We, the People of Bulgaria"
foundation on this project will be to ensure a
database with e-mail addresses
The activity of our foundations on this project
will be to provide a database with electronic
addresses of the peoples' representatives, and
share these e-mails with the people who did elect
the representatives will be able to use them,
so they can expect that the representatives who
they elected will carry their tasks accordingly.
Our foundation
"We, the People of Bulgaria" is an Equal
Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate against
race, sex, age, political
/ religious beliefs, national / ethnic belonging
